The interview

Interview Techniques That Will Help You Select The Right House Staff:

It is important to know in advance what you would like to ask each candidate. Do not do this spontaneously during the interview. On the one hand it looks unprofessional and on the other hand you won't find out everything you need / want to know.

The answers to your questions need to give you some insight into what each candidate has to offer and what not. Remember that the person you choose will have a huge impact on the future of your household.

Interviews should last around 45 minutes. Try to create a relaxed atmosphere. The interview should be structured in such a way that you can cover everything in the time available.

At the beginning, tell the candidates something about the household and the important points for you and your family. In this way, the candidates can take a breath, listen and do not have the stress of having to react immediately.

You can then start asking questions. Always try to ask open-ended questions that cannot simply be answered with "yes" or "no".

This gives you an indication of whether he / she is suitable and what motivation he / she would like to work for you.

"Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" The answer gives you an overview of the applicant's ambitions in the household.

"What are your strengths and weaknesses?" This question can show you what he / she is good at and, alternatively, how criticism is handled. Make sure to also ask when the candidate might start and if vacation or family commitments are already planned.

Recording the interview

Notes during the interview must not be at the expense of the dialogue. Write down your impressions shortly after the interview, while they are still fresh in your mind.

In addition to the reactions to their answers, make a note of the more general impressions, e.g. how well he / she is suited for the job. Characteristics such as enthusiasm, self-confidence, communication skills and a well-groomed appearance are also decisive.
